Lichuan AC 5 Series Servos to AXBB-E wiring

Ok, this is the part I've been dreading - wiring just isn't my forte!

The way I understand it is I need to choose the mode I want to control the Servos with, I have chosen 'Position mode' as I think this is best for a CNC Router,
but I don't know to be honest...

I've attached a drawing of what I think the basic wiring is for PUL+/- and DIR+/- (please let me know if it's correct) but I don't know what the OPC is (number 38 on the drawing) is this where my 5v + goes... is there anything else I need to wire in...?

I also have no clue what all the other pins are for either.

I'm just not very electrically minded and don't understand a lot of the terminology, wiring has always been a struggle - but I've managed to build 2 previous machines before, however, this is a much bigger machine and I've never used Servos before.

Thank you in advance

Cheers

Phil

pul+ and dir+ to 5v output of axbb
pul -
and dir - are your step and direction signals. connect to appropriate output.

do not connect opc.

if any inputs are configured as son (servo on)
emg (estop)
fwd limit
reverse limit
these must be wired in or ignored in servo parameters.

these inputs are going to be 24v optos. so connect axbb 24v gnd to servo 24v gnd
inputs will need to be set active low in the servodrive to use them.

also worth finding the servo fault output and connecting that to an input. use fault signals plugin to do what you want with it.

you may also need to set electronic gearing to get servos to required speed if too slow.
do not set uccnc kernel frequency above 200khz as uccnc is single ended output not differential.

We have a connector board for that servo:

It integrates not just the step and direction, but the fault and enable signals, as well as the encoder.

Battwell, this is great info thank you, I will look at this over the weekend, I might re-post on here just before I power up to double check I've understood it correctly but thank you, I really appreciate you time for replying.

Arturod, this certainly seems the simplest method, what would the lead time be on these, and approx cost Inc delivery to UK, I assume I'd need 1 per Drive so I would need 4 in total...

That board is intended to be used with the C76:

You can simulate the order in our website and will be presented with the available shipping options and their cost. First Class Maill works pretty good to the UK, but it may take about 2 weeks. DHL will get it to you in just a couple of days.

Ahhh right that's not really an option then, I've already got the components I need/want so I can't justify buying more just to make my life a bit easier, I'll stick with manually wiring these up I think.

Cheers,

Phil

Yes, I understand. I think you may still the documentation on the board that I sent to see if you can make sense out of it. Note that the board not just can the connections, but also may have other circuits like optos, buffers, logic.

-----------

Afternoon Battwell,

So I've just had a bit of spare time re-reading through your reply and the Lichuan User Manual
and I think it's started to sink in a bit more now, but I guess you can be the judge of that!

I have attached an updated Wiring diagram, It's a bit messy but I've tried to keep it colour-coordinated so hopefully, you can see what I've done.
I have wired all inputs and outputs, then I assume I program the ones I need/want into the drive via the Drive parameters, to be honest
I'm not sure what I need or want at the moment but that will be another thread I think in the future...

Cheers,

Phil

Just an update for anyone else who is struggling (worried) with the wiring of these... After a lot of Youtubing and re-reading of the manual, I decided to go for it and wire the Green wire and Red wires up (as my drawing above) everything is working as expected and I haven't had any smoke or started a fire :D I still need to wire the DIs and DO's then I need to understand what Parameters I need to link up to the wiring but my main worry was frying the Servo and so far so good! Hopefully I'll be able to put an update on here over the weekend once I've wired and added the Parameters.
