Can't get any movement

Postby Ronald4418 » Mon Jan 30, 2017 11:43 pm

I just installed UCCNC and I am using the UC100 Pendant and the proper license for that Pendant. My system has a Gecko G540 Stepper Driver and I have the proper XML File installed into the UCCNC Folder. I'm not using Limit Switches instead relying on the Soft Limits.

My machine is set up with Zero on X/A and Y Soft Limits with 55" on X/A Maximum and 36" on Y Maximum along with Zero on Z and 5 at Maximum.

I can't get any movement whatsoever out of my stepper motors and according to the G540 I have no Faults listed.

However I am continually a fault reading on Port 3 and 9 and my machine is listed as on Idle in the Diagnostics Page.

Does anyone have an idea as to what is occurring with my machine?

In the top of the UCCNC Window is there a Demo text or not?
Is your UC100 blue LED lights when you running the software?
When you try to jog or command the machine to move are the position DROs on the Run screen counting like if there was motion?

I've looked to see if its in Demo mode but can't find anything. The lights aren't Blue. The DRO's all move, yet there is still no movement.

I'm attaching a printscreen of what I ment to check about the Demo mode, please verify if your software shows that demo text or not.

I'm attaching a picture about what I meant when I told you to check the blue LED.
Please check if that LED is solid on or blinking or not on at all when you running the UCCNC?

I've checked repeatedly and each time and I am not in Demo Mode and I have Solid Green and Blue Lights.

However this is where I am at now:Whenever I attempt to setup my CNC Router with UCCNC and the accompanying UC100 Pendant. I get the following message when I am trying to calibrate it: A Machine Axis Software Limit Has Been Reached. The Axis Has Now Stopped.
I haven't even yet managed any movement out of my stepper motors.
I'm using a Gecko G540 Stepper Driver to run X,Y,Z and A Slaved to X.
I have on I/O Setup : Pin 15, Port 1 for the E-Stop and Pin 4, Port 1 for the Probe. I can't find any reference in any of my guides as to what the Enable Pin and Port should be.
I have Soft Limits Enabled with -X Set to 0 +X Set to 55, -Y Set to 0, +Y Set to 32 and -Z Set to 0 and +Z set to 5 all are in inches.

What exactly am I missing or have incorrectly set, that causes this issue.

That warning message shows up if your axis reached the softlimits coordinates which you setup for the axes.
Try to disable the softlimits on the Configuration/General settings page, untick the Enable softlimits checkbox and press the Apply settings button to validate the setting and try to do the calibration or motion after that.

Please also note that the softlimits are in the machine coordinates system, because the softlimits coordinates has to be referenced to the home switches, so they can only work correctly only after you homed the machine.
To make sure your axes are out of the softlimits you must check the machine coords to compare with the softlimits setup range.

Your probe settings are incorrect. Pin 4 is the Y axis Step pin.

What I would do, is go to each motor settings page, and enter 0 for the port and pin of all the limit switches, and disable softlimits and enter 0 for the min and max.

Your original issue may have been related to the G540 charge pump. Disable the charge pump with the switch on the G540.

Go through each axis, and make sure the step and direction signals match the G540 manual. http://www.geckodrive.com/images/cms_fi ... Manual.pdf

The G540 has no enable pins, so leave those at 0.

If you do all these things, you should see movement. At that point, start connecting things one at a time, making sure that the work before adding anything else.

Alright, I have checked my settings against the G540 .xml file and they are correct. I have disabled the Soft Limits and am confused wherein if they are disabled, when I enter my machines coordinates do they still work without the use of Limit Switches? Also which Pin would I use on the G540 for my Touch Probe. Would it be 10-13 as they are all Inputs?

Is the machine moving? If so, jog to where you want your machine zero position to be, and press the Home All button to zero the machine coordinates. At that point, you can set up your softlimits.

Yes, the probe would be pins 10-13.
