Can't get slave axis to work

Postby Blackslacks » Tue Feb 16, 2021 12:28 am

Hello Ive been using Mach3 for my plasma. I bought UCCNC some time ago but I cant get the slave axis to work. I'm want to use A axis as the slave to Y. If I load Mach3 all axis work as they should, load UCCNC and the slave motor doesn't run. I'm using a UC100 motion controller. If I unslave I can jog the A axis. I imported my Mach3 profile into UCCNC.

Enclosed is my profile. Thanks in advance

What are you using to drive the stepper motors? do you use a breakout board?

Importing a Mach 3 profile is not always an exact process. I found when I imported my Mach 3 profile I had to change several I/O and motor settings.

I'm using a Gecko G540 and I'm using the same motor pin numbers in UCCNC as in Mach3.

Can you tell me which ones you had to change so I can try them. I've gone over it and can't see anything obvious.

Hey Blackslacks,

OK I use the same setup (G540 and UC100) and I had a router that I had Y slaved to A. I had everything set the same way and I did not have any problems.
Sorry I was unable to help you sort this. I am not seeing anything wrong.

Charlie

OK Charlie Thanks for looking. I have a question though. If I have A slaved to Y, and I jog the Y axis, should the movement be seen on the A DRO? I 'm going to reinstall and start a new profile from scratch and see what happens.

I don't think so. At least not that I can remember. let me experiment with something and I'll get back to you.

Ok this is what I did, I loaded your profile into my version of UCCNC.
I noticed that ESTOP and charge pump were set to 0.
I set ESTOP to Pin 15 and Port1 and Charge pump to pin 16 and port 1 and pressed enter after every entry. I saved settings and then applied settings.
I have Y and A axis moving as they should. and to answer your question from before the A axis dro does not read when A is slaved to Y and Y is in motion.

I hope this helps.

I'm using a Gecko 540. I had to change to Estop and charge pump inputs. Also the "Y" axis stepper direction input had to be changed. For some reason those I/O setting didn't get imported from Mach 3.

That did it! Thanks everyone for helping me out. I took a quick look through the manual and couldn't find anything on selecting active low for the master axis step and direction. Anyway thanks again.
