Orientation of coordinate system in graphic window

Postby fdeporte » Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:25 am

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to modify the orientation of the coordinate system for a better toolpath understanding regarding to the physical orientation of my router ?

Thanks by advance.

Not sure I understand what you want to do and why. I mean, X is X Y is Y and Z is Z according to the rules. This means that X is the movement when you are facing the machine, i.e. moving left - right (or the opposite), Y is the movement to and from you when you are facing the machine, and Z is of course the up and down movement of the spindle. Changing anything from this principle may result in huge confusion for you and others, as well as erroneous milling, so why change it? If you for some reason want to swap X and Y on your machine, you can do that by swapping the motor wires, or changing the X and Y axis configuration in UCCNC.

This is a fairly old unanswered post, and I am not sure if my words answered your question, maybe you have already figured out on your own...

Hi,
In fact, I want to rotate the coordinate system of the toolpath windows of 90° only ? It is just for update the screen, not the machine coordinate system.

Agreed, I'd love for Z axis to be "Up" in the side views!
