What is the best post-processor to use?

Postby Sparky » Sun Dec 11, 2016 10:19 pm

I've gone through the documentation a few times and I can't seem to find information on post-processor selection.
I have a mill-turn machine and use it for lathe and 3-4 axis milling and use HSMWorks for my CAM.

The UCCNC software seems to work 'ok' running g-code that's been post-processed for Mach3, but I don't know if this is the best option.

It looks like HSMWorks has added a UCCNC post in recent development builds, but it's still very experimental, eg. the notes from build HSMWorks2016-R4.41148 indicate G28/G28.1 support has been disabled. G28 is one of those fundamentals ...

fusion 360 has a a stepcraft post that is for UCCNC. Not sure if it will work with HSM though.

Post processors are pretty specific to the program they're written for. What I'm after is which traditional controller the UCCNC most closely mimics? eg. Should I use a Fanuc post or a Mach3 or..... ?
