I have a Stepcraft D420 machine running UCCNC.
I would like to be able to manually move the spindle in any axis by a set distance (in mm) using UCCNC.
I can use the Jog Controller to move the spindle in the X, Y or Z axis but I cannot set an exact distance in mm for the spindle to move here.
I can also enter move commands into the MDI to move the spindle, but can not work out the relationship between units entered and the actual distance the spindle moves.

The machine appears to be set up ok as I have run a few jobs (created in Vectric Cut2d using the "Stepcraft UCCNC Arcs(mm)(*.txt)" post processor) and they have come out the correct sizes.

Hi Martin,

The UCCNC is by default in absolute distance mode (G90). When you type G0 X20 in the MDI then it will travel to X20 in the current coordinate system. If you want to move it by 20 mm then you have to switch to relative distance mode with G91. First type G91 in MDI, press enter. Next you can move relative coordinates by typing e.g. G0 X20 or G0 Y-5 etc. Don't forget to switch back to absolute distance mode with G90. (Most generated g-codes have G90 in the first rows but it is better to not forget it.)
