Sure, but still, to be able to say "Increase your feedrate 4x-5x" you need to know more. If he is cutting too deep then he can't just increase the feed rate because that will just make it worse.

Thank you for your replies, all of which have been taken onboard and applied.
Spindle speeds and feed rates are very much a mater of trial and error when coping with a "new" material, as is strategy and tool coating choice.
All is a balance of options.
Again I thank the respondents for their helpful advice.
But.
My question was aimed at software solutions.
If a bit breaks 75% of the way through a long cut, stop the cycle,stop the spindle, jog out, replace the bit, zero Z, rewind the cycle and start again.
Most of the time you are milling fresh air, but it works. A "physical" work around.
This wastes time.
I was looking for any software approaches to this issue.
Anyone taken that route?

It's not that complicated, when it comes to 3D carving with wood. I would recommend against using any coated tools, as they aren't as sharp as uncoated tools, and there's little if any benefit to them when cutting wood.

You don't need a software solution, you need to learn why you are breaking bits, which imo, is a feedrate that's not even close to where it should be.
If the feedrate and rpm are somewhat close to what they should be, you shouldn't be breaking bits at all. unless you are possibly cutting too deep for the tool that you are using.

As a software solution you may try the 3D printer plugin which installs with the UCCNC.
What it does is when you cycle stop then it lifts the Z up to a setable height and saves the stop position.
When you cycle starts again it moves back to the saved stop point and continoues the g-code execution.

Are you thinking more of a run from here
I.e my tool broke at line 567 stop machine replace tool reset z for new tool rewind a few lines say to line 560 and run from there is that what you had in mind

Ok had you tried to use the run from here ?

I confess used to have to do this a lot in mach 3 but have only used it once in uccnc when making a pallet system in 40mm aluminium and drilling and reaming 100ish holes reamer broke half way through
I use the 2017 screen set so the buttons might be different I located the line I wanted to run from entered into the box and hit run from here up pops a dialog box checking settings safe z ect hit ok i think and then cycle start and off you go (I always have my hand over the stop button just in case )
the best way do some dummy runs and see which settings work best for your machine
