motors do not operate

Postby Jimamato » Mon Feb 13, 2023 9:51 pm

Up to a week ago all three motors operated well.
Have no idea of what I have done but my problem of UCCNC breaking its connection with my UC400 seems to have disappeared. After calculating the basic axis motor steps per rev, I used the calibrate function. The distance I set to 1.000 and the feed rate to 10. Clicked OK the DRO moved properly however the axis did not. I placed a low number in the distance move.090 and clicked OK the steps were calculated. Once again clicked OK but still no axis activity. Tried the Z and Y axis with the same results. Could there be anywhere else in the software where information may be lacking to cause this problem? Thanks Folks I need help desperately.
Thank you Jim

Distance of 1 like 1 mm? Try something like 200 (200 mm) and then calibrate.

Thanks for the tip, I'm using Inches however as you say I have tried larger numbers all with no success.
Thanks Jim

Movement measured at 1 inch is not feasible for calibration , go at least 12 inches and then measure and calibrate. I did mine over 300 mm, if its not working for you, your doing something wrong. Its not the software!

Thank you for your advice. My question is not on how to calibrate but how to get my motors to run.

If your Steps are not set right it will never run, the Calibration is to show you it will! What is your settings for Steps, velocity and acceleration?

Double check your port and pin settings, and make sure they are wired correctly. Are the motors locking up when you power up the machine?

Howdy Ger:
Thank you for stopping by to help.
To begin with my motors make no noise not even a wispier when I attempt to activate them either through the keyboard shortcuts the calibrate function or the jog screen, however the DRO does change when pressing any of the keys.
I have checked both ports and pins located on my PMDX-126 Breakout-board and confirmed that the ports and pins were the same on my UCCNC axis config screen.

X Axis stats are as follows = Motor drive sprocket 20 teeth, lead-screw sprocket driven 40 teeth. Micro stepping pulse/rev 51200
Using the StepperCalc_rev1 I calculate the following
Steps / inch=512000 Steps / mm 20480

Y Axis stats are as follows=Lead-screw 20mm 5pitch, 1 start.
Lead-screw motor drive 40 teeth Lead-screw driven sprocket 20 teeth
Using the StepperCalc_rev1 I calculate the following
Steps / inch=128000 Steps / mm 5120

Inputting these results were no help in moving the motors.
The system is still a bit spotty on maintaining a connection between the UC400 and the PC on startup.

Each pin on my breakout board has a led that lights when activated. I would think that each time I try and run the motors the motor pins led should light however they don't light.
Thanks once again Ger:

You didn't say if the motors are locked up? My guess is that you have a wiring issue, but I'd like to see a screenshot of your axis setup screen.
