Stepcraft UCCNC strange estop

Postby Fabien » Fri Oct 30, 2020 1:14 pm

Hello,
I have 2 Stepcraft D420 with performance kits that run the same work in parallel. They 99 % of the time stop at the same line (estop fired) and I don't know why ? I have to do "run from here" multiple times to get it done.

Gcode around is visible on the screenshoot and in the text file.

Thank you for your help.

The ext. e-stop triggered message can be seen on your printscreen picture.
This means that you e-stop input got triggered.

You should figure out why this happens. I mean it is not the fault of the UCCNC or the motion controller, but a problem in your control box/breakout board or e-stop switch wiring.
If the issue happens on the same line probably means the same position then it is possible that at that point the e-stop wire bends in a position when it breaks.
Ofcourse this is just an idea from me, not sure that this happens, but is logical and possible.

It is also possible that it is noise problem, when noise is triggering the e-stop input.
In the latest few versions of the UCCNC there is an input debounce filter.
What that filter does is that it ignores short signals, so it can filter out noise spikes.
You can set the time constant in milliseconds.
For example setting the time constant to 10msec will filter out all signal spikes which are shorter than 10msec.

what version of uccnc do you have installed?

if you install the current version of uccnc then the menus will be shown on the general settings page.

maybe you need to contact stepcraft too and ask if they have updated their screenset version to allow for the newer features?

http://www.cncdrive.com/UCCNC/UCCNC_usersmanual.pdf

have a look at the screenshot within the manual on page 36, lower left hand side, search the manual for "debounce"

you are using an old screenset on a newer software version of uccnc. you can add the objects to the screenset and they will work.

Hello Robert
I just checked a new install both retail version 2.111 and the latest test version and although the official release manual has a screenshot with debounce settings the release version doesn't have it by default couldn't find it in the latest test version either. It seems strange that it's in the manual but not in the software ?

Cheers

I keep wondering if CNCdrive will release another development release soon, but I'm guessing covid19 has stopped all development
