You are obviously free to do or try whatever you want but 8" would be a bit small for me (I had a 19" 4:3 monitor, and now use a 24" touchscreen with one of these:

Wifi is not recommended for machine controlling applications (as the signal may be lost or affected by electrical noise). Would you drive your car on wifi / bluetooth?
