Axis speed races after step/jog to center on workpiece

After I use the step jog function to move the cutter to the center of the workpiece and zero the coordinates, the motors on the axis are incredibly fast when cycle starts. What do I need to do? I am a newbie at this.

Normally. When you cycle start the axis move to the starting point you have set for your workpiece (WCS) Work Coordinate System. Then does all the Spindle start etc afterwards.
This move is done as a 'rapid' move (G0).
If this move is no faster than any other 'rapid' G0 move in your program, then that is the explanation of the event.
It's normal.

Your rapid speed is based on your axis velocity settings in the program. Whatever you have set as axis maximum velocity in you motor tuning is what you will rapid at.

If you don't want to rapid that fast you can just lower your axis max velocity settings until you're comfortable with it This will effect all rapids in the g-code.
An axis 'G0' move is rapid.
Any other axis 'G' move such as G1, G2 etc uses your set 'F' code cutting feedrate.


Unless it is much much faster than normal 'rapid' G0 moves, that's when their could be something amiss.
