How to troubleshoot UC300EH

Postby George M » Sun Dec 20, 2020 6:15 pm

I am in the process of rebuilding my CNC. It uses the UC300ETH.
Before dismantling the machine everything was working correctly.
Upon the rewiring on the new machine the UC300ETH does not power on. I don't know if I somehow damaged it during the changeover or not. I confirmed it has 5v to it, however it does not power on -- no led lights at all.
How can I determine if the problem is the motherboard or the controller itself?

Thank you

Hi,

If it does not show any LEDs then what is sure is that the microcontroller on the UC300ETH top module does not receive the power.
It could be also that the jumper on the motherboard behind the 5V power connector fallen off.
So, please verify that the jumper is there and in the correct position (the users manual images show the proper position).

Ofcourse it is also possible that something is mechanically or electrocally damaged on the board(s).
So, you could also study mechanical damage with removing the top board and looking for mechanical damage through the boards and the components.

I'll check those out tomorrow. I'm out of area today.
Thanks

So I cannot find any electrical or mechanical damage on the boards by looking at them. I tried a different power supply and still no led activity.

I cannot find the pin out on the controller board. Is it possible to connect power directly to it rather than through the 5lpt motherboad to test it?

Can you give me the pin out on the UC300eth so I know how to connect 5v to it independently of the 5lpt?
I'm trying to verify if the UC300 or the 5lpt is bad.

Thank you

I've attached the pinout documentation of the UC300ETH module.
The document was made for the UC300USB version which is pin to pin compatible with the UC300ETH ethernet version, the only difference is that the L2 pin is not on the ethernet version, it should be left unconnected on the motherboard.

Thank you for that. AS I was removing the UC300 in order to remove the controller board, I found that the negative wire to the power plug had broken off inside the plug so that it was not visible. I re ran the wiring and now the led lights come on Steady green and blue.

Also the BOB that I use (C10) has all of its leds lit.

However now I get nothing on the output pins - no motor activity (even though they are powere) - no spindle on / off.
All the inputs seem so work as they should.

Would this be more likely a problem with the BOB or the UC300 in your opinion?

Thanks
