Routing with mach 3, Z goes deeper in every part

Postby Mazam » Mon Oct 09, 2023 6:24 pm

Hi,
Newbie here.
Been routing with Victor cnc router for 3 years now with no major broblems until now. I noticed, when routing 3mm aluminium that after every holding tab and when changing to new part it cuts deeper and deeper.

I'm using Mach 3 and hicon.

When it goes deep it shows the correct (too deep) depht in mach 3 screen and after stop, when checking, the top of the aluminium plate is right at 0.

The g code seems to be correct and when checked with camotics it works just fine.

Can faulty step motor do this? I would think if the motor in Z axis would be losing steps it would not show the changed depht in mach 3..

What am i missing?

Thanks.

Yes, sounds like the Z axis is losing steps.

Check if the direction signal is configured properly. (Active low" setting.
If it is configured opposite then the drive could loose steps at every direction change.
