Is this why Fusion360 errors the Gcode when I select a turning project on CAM and ask it to generate G-code with UCCNC.cps co-processor ?

It's because the Fusion 360 post procesor for UCCNC is a 3 axis post, not a turning post. Someone would need to create a lathe post processor compatible with UCCNC's future lathe mode.

Aargh, feel like i am busy spiraling deeper into a $$$ black hole.

I have now exhausted a few weeks attempting to make Mach 3 TURN work with new UC300eth controller. I have used various computers including a windows 7 server, Ethernet hubs and direct cable connection with various IP settings. System works a while and fails with communications error. Only resetting the UC300eth board works before it fails again.

I am now fairly certain that the UC300Eth controller is not compatible with Mach3 as advertised. Unless I have a faulty board (it works fine with UCCNC).

This combined with the fact that the UCCNC Lathe profile has been promised since 2018, makes me believe I need to cut my financial and wasted time losses and move on to a more robust controller system.

Buyers beware

Things you wrote here aren't true at all. We did not promise UCCNC lathe mode since 2018, we started promising it only a few months ago and we are about to finish that development.
The UC300ETH should work fine with Mach3 turn, if it does not work then you might have a faulty UC300ETH, however if it works with UCCNC then it is sure not faulty.
Please check and tell me if your UC300ETH works with the Mach3 mill profile?
Also a question is the version of Mach3 you running? And what version of the UC300ETH MAch3 plugin are you running?

Hi,

I really hope that I have missed something as I have exhausted many options to date including engaging with support, see last email below;

"Hi,

All versions of the plugin works with mach3 turn. But i will ask and get it confirm with my collegue.

Best regards, Balazs
"
I got no response after this email despite some attempts.

Info as requested:
Mach3 Professional turn Version R3.043.052
UC300ETH-CNC-motion-controller-V1.013
Plugin version 1.013
BL version 1.000
FW version 1.017
HW id. number 0002

Only thing I note is that when I reset the UC300eth controller to default and run Mach3, it notes "different firmware, replace the current ?". If I say no, Mach3 loads but I have no control of the lathe and "UC300eth comms failure" comes up intermittently. If I say yes, Lathe works but "UC300eth comms failure" intermittently pops up (immediately to a few hours after start up, even if standing idle). I then have to repower the UC300eth controller and Mach3 to regain comms. I have tried 2 laptops with windows 10, am now on a Win 7 server (no other apps running) and tried direct cable and cable with hub and numerous TCP/IP settings (I am an ex IT guy). Only common item not changed, is the UC300eth controller.

Regards the lathe profile promise, I noted earliest request for a Lathe profile from a user on this forum 2017, noted and apology. However I do feel that if Lathe profile developers would have given a estimate date (plus or minus say a month) that it would have allowed me to rather wait for the release. As a firm date was not forthcoming, I had to invest time and money in attempting to run the system on Mach3 as an interim. Apparently Mach4 Turn wont work with UC300Eth controller. At great pains I found out that Mach3 is a cryptic pre-historic piece of software with a manual written in hieroglyphics that would make the Rosetta stone seam like reading the Sunday TImes. I think many of us would appreciate a fair release date estimate along with some info e.g. Fusion360 CAM co-processor.

I really appreciate your response, I am very frustrated with the system and lack of support to date. Thank you.

I have started up Mach3 Mill this am and will let you know soonest.

OK, so it works with MAch3 mill and not with the lathe right?
Can you try Mach3 R3.043.066 , that is the version we using for our Mach3 plugin developments, so maybe the issue is the Mach3 version you using.
Please let me know if it works OK with that version or not.
And I can't give you a release date yet, because the most complicated function is missing and we currently working on that now, it is the constant velocity mode together with the G95 feedrate per revolution mode when both are switched on.
These functions when acting together is complicated and we working on making it work, when this will be done then we will test and release the UCCNC with the lathe support.

Hi,

OK will try this weekend. Your advice makes sense, will let you know thank you.

Sounds like a major challenge, good luck and hope you crack it soon. Mach3 turn is a pain for this newbie.

Much appreciated.
