UCCNC Jog Speeds Between Operations

Hello All,

new here, and have a probably pretty easy question.

My CNC machine (Stepcraft) is missing steps in Y-direction during high speed. I have adjusted all the hardware and it is much better, however it still happens occassionally at high speed.

This is deadly when the machine jogs fast from one cutting operation to another at the other end of the working material for example.

Therefore I would like to reduce this jog speed.

How can I change the travel speed when the machine is not cutting or travelling between locations on the workspace ??

Desperate for help here !!

Reduce the Velocity setting for the Y axis.

Where can I find that setting ? Sorry I'm a newbie at this....

I think you are talking about the maximum velocity and not the jog speed.
The maximum velocity is the top speed limit for your machine axes.
There is a velocity parameter for each axis in the Axis settings in the configuration.
You can reduce those values if you want to make the axes to run with lower maximum speeds.

The machine runs the axis upto the velocity parameter speed when there is a rapid travel g-code is programmed which is G0.
And your machine is running with a controlled feedrate set by the F code when you program G1.

The jog speed or JRO is a different thing, it can be set on the pup out jog panel on the left side of the screen.
You can set the jog % and then the machine jogs with the velocity * JRO%.
So, the absolute limit for the jog speed is also set by the velocity parameter of the axes, you can jog the axes upto the speed defined by the velocity parameters, when the JRO is 100% is when the jog speed equals the axis' velocity parameter and that is the maximum the machine will jog with.

When I go to Configuration/Axis Setup. The "Velocity" is set at 3000 U/min. However when I change it to say 2000 it always resets it back to 3000.

Also when I press Apply, or save or take the tick out of the Auto box to the right ???

Any further ideas why it won't let me change the velocity ?

I'm working with a Stepcraft and Fusion 360 for CAM program. Could it be that they have some sort of set protocol where velocity is set and can't be changed ?

Surely it can't be that I can't change the velocity ???? Very strange.

I tried closing the loaded CNC programme, pressed the "Offline" button. Nothing allows me to change the 3000 velocity to something else.

You have to press the Enter keyboard key to finish the input to the DROs, otherwise the DRO will not accept the new value.
This is a feature which you may disable with the Configuration/Appearance/Validate textfields with enter key only checkbox.
