Spindle stalling mid cut

Postby twoFlutes » Sat Oct 01, 2022 1:52 pm

Hi all!

Need some help please.

I am running a desktop CNC with the UC300Eth controller. Have been using it for the past month and suddenly in the past couple days the spindle switches off mid programme. On UCCNC everything seems good (spindle running, code moving on). Initially I was baffled as the cutter got jammed in the stock and snapped on a seemingly shallow cut, but since I have caught the machine powering down the spindle while cutting and had to use the e-stop.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or has any ideas as to what the cause might be?

We re going to need a lot more information to be able to help. You do not say what type of spindle motor you have or how it is controlled via the ETH300. Do you see the spindle button change state on the screen when this happens? So many more questions but we need the details first.
For my machine I too am using the ETH300 but then it is controlling a VFD via a modbus USB stick which controls the speed and direction of a Chinese spindle motor. The noise from the VFD needed to be tamed with filters and screened cable but works just fine so as you can see these are the details we need.
