M3 and S0-100 works with laser, M10 and Q0-255 won't

Hello,

I switched from mach3 and chinese boards to UCCNC and UC400eth. I have it paired with mx4660 and hooked my laser to mx's output 1. In uccnc laser pin is 17 and port 1. When I try it with M3 and S0 -100, it works well. 0 and its off and gradually increasing in power. However with m10 it seems to be on full power always. no matter what Q value I have. I did try UCCNC's Engraving add on and same happens with it. Can't control the power. Seems odd that with m3 it works like charm.

My profile as attachment.

For M10/11 you have to configure the Laser output pin in the UCCNC for the output pin you want to control.
Also make sure that you remove the M3 PWM configuration from that output pin, otherwise they will override eachother.

Then you first have to enable the laser with M3 and then the M3 is on then you can execute M10 Q.. and M11.

Hello,

Yes, I have checked those. Yesterday I did vector cutting test with m10 qxxx command and it worked, BUT there is full power fire at beginning of each cut. when laser turns on there is voltage spike or something. It lasts only fraction of second, but in raster engraving it makes power control useless. ( as it always fires fullpower) Could I add pulldown resistor between mx4660 output +1 pin and GND. (Output +1 is where 5 volts go in, and output -1 is where 5 volts go out to laser controller)

Here is pdf manual. In page 20 there is example wiring.

make sure you are only using laser pwm pin which is m10.m11
do not set spindle pwm pins to same pin

Hello,

I did get it work wit M10 Qxx turning laser on and M10 Q0 turning laser off. There is now zero lag in vector cutting. machine don't slow down. It just moves and fires laser on and off. That speeds things up. The problem seemed to be M11 and after that switching laser on with M10. But I got my pp (inkscape) work like charm.

If anybody is interested in this modified Jtech laser plugin for inkscape I can post it here.

Please do. I'm currently in the process of trying to get a laser to work with UCCNC
