Probing Advice

Postby ejg3855 » Mon Nov 18, 2019 3:53 pm

I've got my probing setup with a simple block and spring clamp to the tool. I then touch the tool to the block and get position which I use as the tool offset. It works fine.

My question is surrounding grounding and my machine. I have a bridgeport mill.

I had to put Kapton tape on the back side of my touch block to make it work.

Thus this limits my ability to probe a bore or a side of the actual work piece, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep my circuit from closing when my tool touches anypart of the mill ?

Thanks

I use a insulated probe that I made , then clip onto that when I do a probing routine , I also have a touchoff plate that is insulated on the bottom that I clip onto as a tool length sensor.

yea my touch plate is insulated.

I think I could make a insulated touch tool for probing bores, thats a good idea.
