Z axis not stopping

Postby cas_shs » Sun Aug 25, 2019 10:51 pm

When i press the zero all button my Z axis goes straight up through the homing switch and i have to press reset to stop the motor. Any idea what can be causing this. The machine homes fine but I cant press goto zero or any park position because the z axis never stops. Thanks for any help.

Never say "never". You just assuming that it would never stop, but is not likely to happen. You can't not know, because you have no infinate time to verify that it "never" stops. :)
The goto zero sends the Z axis to the SafeZ height first if the actual Z height is lower then the setup Z height.
Your set Zheight is probably higher than it should be. Check that setting...

Should the safe z height be in inches or millimeters? It is set at 25 but i don't know if that is inches or millimeter i changed it to 4 but it did the same thing.

It should be in whatever units everything else is in. Did you set your steps/unit to steps/mm, or steps/inch?

Note that Safe Z is in Work Coordinates, and would be relative to your Z zero position.
