Been using this a bit as a free piece of nesting software where you want to minimize material waste, may be handy / of use to someone else too.

Its a bit quirky to use but once you've set it up and know the settings to adjust i found it helpful.
It not only works for laser but anything else if you set the part spacing correctly.
Any questions just ask and I'll try to help what I've learned about using it.
It will export as SVG or DXF (so you can then import into sheetcam or whatever)..... make sure you set the export scale as mm or inches etc......
Add all your DXF's then add a rectangle ("+" at bottom LHS of screen), this will represent your material you wish to constrain your parts into...
And press "start nest" at the top of the screen.
It then runs a load of iterations of which you can select the top or any other one.

The Open Source part is intriguing, as I want to write some cabinet software, and would like to include a nesting solution.
Who knows when I'll have the time, though.

I tried it but couldn't get it to work. If you could help with the settings that would be great.
