I'm wondering if this would be a good BOB for a plasma system. We're planning to use a Neuron THC, and I haven't figured out whether we even need a 0-10v output do drive anything.

If not, this new BOB appears to be just the ticket - all the nice features, plus very high speed optos, and no unnecessary features at a pretty darn good price. Love the fact that I could use 24v limit switches for a bit more EMI/RFI resistance.

UB-1 has many, many more features. I think they're both extremely nice, but are designed for different applications.

You want the best BOB I've ever seen with all the bells & whistles? UB-1. You need something much simpler, but very high quality? I think the UCCB fits the bill.

The reason I mentioned my interest in the UCCB is that the plasma I'm buiding for a friend will be pretty simple. No spindle - just 4 axis motors and some limit switches. I don't think I need any on-board relays or as much I/O as the UB-1 provides.

UCBB is not for the UC400, because it has a normal (12 out, 5 in) and an input (4 out, 13 in) type port, so it's good for the UC300.

The UC400ETH has two standard ports.

Strange sentence. It wanted to mean that it has the pinout of an input mode of the bidirectional port.

the ub1 looks superb too- but i think its only the guys that have a good understanding of what makes a great break out board that are going to purchase them due to pricing etc. the most hobby guys will just be looking for the cheapest options.
i have a big machining centre to help refit (again) after the original expensive servos have been failing. this time with a ub1/ uccnc

as i blab on recommending uccnc on fb pages and forums its nice to know what is available and what is compatible to what.

Had the UCBB been available when I first got my UC300ETH, there probably wouldn't be a UB-1. I'd have just bought two UCBB's.

The UB-1 came about after I purchased an MB2 and hooked it up with the UC300ETH. People then started asking CNC Room for a UC300 version of the MB2, and it was created due to popular demand.

If you don't need the analog inputs, speed control, or safety circuit from the UB-1, then the UCBB is a great option.

Now I'm tempted to just get the 300ETH/UB1 combo from CNCRoom and be done with it. Massive I/O overkill, but one less thing to mount and wire.

Besides, I'm not paying for it and the price difference (vs. motherboard + UCBB or other BOB) is a drop in the bucket for this build.

If it weren't such a wiring headache, I'd sell him my 400ETH/PMDX-126 combo out of my mill and buy the UB1 combo for myself.
