Changing the Y home Offset should not affect the X axis.

Based on the video I found
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIqujSW9Upg

Home / limit switches are physically located forward left. After the home sequence, the DRO for the Y axis shows 415.
This means that "write offset on homing" is set 415 for Y axis.
Let's try it this way.
Like Dale said "home the machine with soft limits turned off", jog the machine in the middle of the working area, then go to settings and set:

For the Y axis
Y axis.jpg

For the X axis
X axis.jpg

For the Z axis
Z axis.jpg

Only what you need to change is highlighted.

Then turn on the soft limits again and apply and save settings.

@Dale, I carried out your suggestion and unticked the 'Enable Softlimits' box. I then hit the 'HOME ALL' button and the machine homed on all 3 axes. The UCCNC screen says X=5.0000, Y=415.0000 and Z= -5.
The Z axis jogs up and down. The X axis travels back and forth across the machine but the Y axis jogs forward to 413.9700 then stops with the 'Reset' button flashing. It says 'Limit switch triggered' and when I open the side cover the gantry is still in contact with the switch. The Diagnostic screen shows green led's at I13 and I15 and A home ??
Thanks for the suggestion

@Gerry, I changed the Y axis offset but when I Home All the machine homes the Z then the X then the Y axes. While it homed X it wouldn't move any further and that was when I found the gantry had jammed. Sorry about that.

@laki, I have homed the machine with limits turned off. The machine zeroed Z then zeroed X then zeroed Y.
I jogged X across to about midway , lowered Z about 20mm but the Y only moved about 2mm before it stopped with a 'Limit switch triggered' message. The gantry has jammed against the limit switch and I will need to switch the machine off and manually screw the gantry away from the switch. The limit switch is not jammed, the gantry has not backed off the switch after contact. ?? I tested with a multi meter and the switch is ok. I have manually backed off the switch and can now use the controls. I have jogged to about the middle of the work area and can now try and use the settings you gave. Unfortunately my screenset is not the same as yours.
I have set what i can find on the axis screens. The only setting I can't find is 'Homing backoff (Units)' There is a setting on the Configuration page 'G73 back off (Units) and I have set that to 4. I re-enabled 'Software Limits' and saved.
I used 'HOME ALL' again and the machine homed.
It jogs in the Z axis, the X axis but when I jog the Y axis the 'Reset' starts flashing and the axis only moves to 413,2700 and the DRO says Limit switch triggered ?????

Hi Don,

'Homing backoff (Units)' you can't find because you are using an older version of UCCNC. It is available for UCCNC version 1.2101 and later.
You can download newer versions from viewtopic.php?f=2&t=240&start=50
The latest version is 2113 and I use this version.

"G73 back off (Units)" is not the same as "Homing backoff (Units)"
"Homing backoff (Units): Which is a numeric value and is a movement distance the machine axis will make after
the homing off. If the parameter is set to 0 then no movement will happen after the homing.
The movement can be to the negative or positive direction depending on the sign of the value.
The final position after the back off movement is registered as the home position."

Please watch this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cauMAYx ... e=youtu.be
Can you confirm that your machine behaves like this when you press the limit switches with your finger?
All 3 limit / home switch should be tied to the pin 12.
In this video you will also learn how to use override limits.

Hi laki,
Thanks for this information, I think I can see what is happening now although very dimly. lol
I have downloaded version 1.2113 and have it in Downloads. Do I open and extract here or do I need to put the file in This PC > Local Disk(C:) > UCCNC before extracting ?? At times I begin to feel my age and forget the simplest of things, sorry about that.
I will go and have a look at the video you suggested and possibly download for future/later viewing.
take care
Don W
PS Maybe I should download UCCNC version 1.210 first and try that ??

You do not have to move the installation file to the UCCNC folder. You can start the installation from the downloads folder.
You can have multiple versions of UCCNC installed at the same time.
Before starting the installation in C: \ UCCNC \ create a new folder and name it 2113.
Then start the installation, and when you get a question where you want to install the UCCNC program, go to browse and select C: \ UCCNC \ 2113
Once installed, you need to copy your license to C: \ UCCNC \ 2113 \ UCCNC \
To use the profile for Stepcraft1_Model420 you need to:

1. From C: \ UCCNC \ Profiles, copy the "Macro_Stepcraft1_Model420" folder and save it to C: \ UCCNC \ 2113 \ UCCNC \ Profiles
2. I'm sending you a modified "Stepcraft1_Model420.pro". Save this file to C: \ UCCNC \ 2113 \ UCCNC \ Profiles
Stepcraft1_Model420.pro
Stepcraft1 profile
(21.05 KiB) Downloaded 565 times

3. Then right-click on the new UCCNC desktop shortcut, go to properties and change Target to C: \ UCCNC \ 2113 \ UCCNC \ UCCNC.exe / p Stepcraft1_Model420

Start UCCNC
The program will start with the old screenset loaded. If you want to use the new screenset, go to profiles tab and when you press the "Select screenset" button select Default2019 and restart the program.

@laki, Thanks again for all this help you have given me. I now have my UCCNC screenset setup like yours. A bit daunting when I first saw it but all the buttons/switches that I used before seem to be there.
However I can jog left/right and back/forward but the X axis won't go up, it will only go down and is almost touching the baseboard now. It says 'Softlimit reached' in the box on the left of the screen. There is a flashing red R just below where it says MDI.
I really can't thank you enough for all this help, I knew this setup, UCCNC and Stepcraft, were capable of creating good things and you are really leading me in that direction.
take care
