How did you determinate that things were not saved?
The valued loaded in on startup are not the same as what you have saved?

You might have write protection on the profile file, I have no other ideas why things are not saved.

What do you mean by "I have to reload the profile all over again"?
How do you do that?
Maybe you starting a different profile than what you saving to?!
I mean what I think of is happening is you running profile X and then you loading profile Y in the UCCNC and then you saving stuff and then you close the UCCNC and running it again with profile X, so still you will see settings in profile X and not whats in in profile Y which you saved to. Then you load profile Y in the UCCNC and then you saving things and again the same thing is happening...

because I have to load the profile for my machine. in order for my machine to work. when I open UCCNC and I go to the profile tab, I have Default, inch cnc and mm cnc.the last two are profiles I have created. I load inch cnc and I can run my cnc router. if I don't load the profile then nothing happens

No. I say this because I have to load the profile for my machine.otherwise I have no movement, and I can't reset.

No. If I do not load my machine profile , the "default profile" is loaded which does not have the proper steps or inputs etc.
With version 2037 I do not have this problem. Am I doing something wrong here?

Ofcourse if you load the default profile and that does not have the settings for your machine then that will not work properly.
You have to run the profile you have for your machine, you've mentioned you have an inch and a mm profile, then you have to load that profile for your machine to work with the settings in that profile.
If you run the Default profile then ofcourse it will not run your other profiles unless you load another profile via the UCCNC profiles tab page.

At the bottom of the UCCNC Run page you can see the "Profile: Profilename", where the Profilename is the name of the profile which is actually loaded.
If you have the default loaded and your settings are in another profile then don't expect your machine to run properly.
Also if the default profile is loaded then when you save settings then ofcourse the saving is done into the default profile and if you have another profile loaded then the saving is done to that profile.

Profile running, loading and saving works exactly the same in the 1.2037 and 1.2047, there is no difference.

So, make sure you running the correct profile with checking the text at the bottom of the run page.

OK So I load my machine profile. I check at the bottom of the run tab and I see my cnc_inch profile. I close uccnc and reopen I see default at the bottom, is this normal?
if so then I will just have to load the profile each time I open and use uccnc. not a big deal.

Thanks.

How do you run the cnc_inch profile?
Do you have an icon for it with targer for path plus UCCNC.exe /p cnc_inch ?
Or how do you starting UCCNC that you expect that your cnc_inch profile will run?

If you see the Default profile at the bottom of the UCCNC run page then you have loaded the Default profile and not the cnc_inch named profile.

Well As of right now I have to load the profile from with in UCCNC.

I don't have a icon with that path. is this what I need to do maby?

WEll I expect that if I load my profile and save it then the next time I start uccnc then it should start with the saved profile. I guess I am thinking about this all wrong.

OK question for you. what does the save button do exactly?

The manual explains how to create a shortcut to start with a specific profile, which is the proper way to do it.
If you use the default profile, it may be overwritten when you install updates.

The default profile can be overwritten with the installer if that option is set in the installer.

What the Save settings button does is that it saves the settings you have in the UCCNC, it saves the settings to the profile file you have loaded in at the time you pressing the save settings button.

Running different profiles can be done with passing command line arguments to the UCCNC.
The /p parameter is the profile definition, so you can pass /p profilename string as a command line argument, where "profilename" is the name of your profile file.
When you run the UCCNC with these arguments then the software will see that you want to run the profile file profilename and so it will load that profile.
If no /p command line argument parameter is passed to the software then it loads the Default profile file.

One way to pass command line arguments is to make a Shortcut icon for the profile.
E.g. make a shortcut icon on the desktop (make a new shortcut or copy an existing UCCNC icon etc.) and then edit it's properties.
Make the target to point to your UCCNC.exe and pass the command line parameters in the target field property of the icon.
So, the target is C:/.../UCCNC.exe /p yourprofile, ofcourse this is just an example with example path and values.

You can also make the UCCNC to create a shortcut icon for you when creating a new profile in the UCCNC, there is a checkbox option to create a shortcut icon on the desktop.
What then happens is the same when you manually creating the shortcut icon as described above, the software creates the icon for your newly created profile file and writes the target with the /p profilename.

There is some more description about this in the UCCNC manual.
