Uccnc running co2 laser. Pwm to analog module?

Postby hautamak » Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:55 pm

Hello everyone!

I have been using uccnc long time with my cnc, but recently made conversion to my co2 laser to accept also uccnc program. (Parallel port switch).

However, seems that my lasers psu is only accepting analog voltage for power regulation.

With m3 Sxx command i can make it work when pwm frequency is under 1500hz

With M10 Qxx command the laser is always full power (because the pwm frequency is over 1500hz)

So, I'd like to have some sort of filter for pwm to convert it analog signal.

What pcb module would work?

To convert PWM to analog for your CO2 laser using UCCNC, a PWM-to-voltage converter module would be ideal. These modules smooth the PWM signal to provide a stable analog output compatible with your laser power supply. Look for models that handle your PWM frequency, such as those from brands like Drok or other CNC accessory providers.

Make sure to match the output range of the converter to the input requirements of the PSU. You will need to select the correct resistor and capacitor values to match the desired frequency range in the Low Pass Filter (RC Filter). There are pre-made modules available online (such as from Adafruit or other electronics vendors) that convert PWM to a 0-10V analog signal, which is often used to control laser power. Consider a dedicated PWM-to-analog converter module

@hautamak
Something like this would probably work.
