Engraving with 6W Laser - Heavy burn spot at start and stop

Postby Samarah » Tue Feb 07, 2023 2:57 pm

Hello,

I recently added a 6W Opt laser to my Avid PRO CNC router. The router was converted to a UCCNC 300UCETH controller from the as-built Mach3/Smoothstepper. The laser seems to function properly, but I am experiencing a heavy burn spot at the start and stop of segments while engraving. I am assuming it is a dwell issue for the spindle spin up. I am arming the laser with M03 and using M10 Qx to control the laser power. I played around with the M03 delay but that didn't seem to make a difference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fixed my problem by setting the dwells to zero and adding the following to the post...

+---------------------------------------------------
+ Commands output when the jet is turned on
+---------------------------------------------------

begin JET_TOOL_ON

"M03"
"M10 [P]"

+---------------------------------------------------
+ Commands output when the jet is turned off
+---------------------------------------------------

begin JET_TOOL_OFF

"M11"
"M05"
