Change Home location

Postby cashmechanix » Thu Jun 30, 2022 11:02 am

Hello from Ireland!

I’m new to UCCNC so sorry if this is a simple question but I can’t find the answer on any of the posts when I use the search function.

I have two 3 axis routers, both started as Mach3 machines.
I’ve set up and run the first one with UCCNC and homes at back right corner (default). Everything runs fine.
Just setting up the second machine and I need it to home at front left but it defaults to home at back right. I’ve switched directions to positive in the axis tab in configuration and it homes now correctly.
However, my X & Y directions are reversers now so I have to jog the machine in reverse.

My question is, is the a home location selectable in UCCNC or fixed to back right corner?
How do I best achieve a front left home with correct jog direction inputs?
I could rewire the machine limit switches but for this machine with no ATC, the front left corner suits better for me tonwork with.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

You can have the machine "Home" wherever you want, but you can't change the coordinate system.
I suspect you are trying to change where you're 0,0 position is. That's doesn't need to be where "Home" is.

Yes I am trying to change where machine 0,0 is yes but not work 0,0. I am aware there's a difference.
I know I can move from home to anywhere on the machine bed and zero my work co-ordinates at that location to begin an operation.
That's all good.

Essentially, on startup, I home the machine to zero the machine co-ordinates. This I need to happen in the front left corner.
To make this happen, I have had to select positive direction on the X & Y axis configuration.
Any movement from the machine zero co-ordinates for me in Mach3 is normally X+ and Y+ but I am now getting negative values in UCCNC
Is there a way to change this?
Maybe not if the co-ordinate system in UCCNC always shows negative values for travel movements away from zero/zero?

As far as I can see, my issue is that the travel values are negative instead of positive because of the home location not being rear right.

Do you use physical switches?.
Sounds like you need to move your switches to the opposite ends. Or if you have switches at either end you may need to swap the switches over.

Yea there are physical switches. For X & Y, these are located at the from left of the machine.
I could rewire these to the back right, or add additional switches. Maybe I will have to….
I just find it odd that I can home front left and travels are positive from there in Mach3 but not in UCCNC. I’m sure it’s something obvious that I’m missing.

Does everyone else home back right of their machine bed?

Ok I’m an idiot, it was just a direction issue. I did some pin swapping and found that I had lots of positive directions fighting with each other. I redid the pin outs and set up from scratch again and I got all working as expected. I knew it was something simple.

Thanks for the posts, it did help me figure it all out.
