Calibration os Spindle Speeds UCCNC v VFD

Postby anw » Thu Feb 03, 2022 5:53 pm

Hello,

I hope someone can help.......
Over the last year I have built my own DIY CNC machine so solving problems as they pop up and learning during the process. However I think this one maybe beyond my technical knowledge.

I have just upgraded to a 2.2kw Spindle via a Huanyang VFD. (HY02D223B) 220V 11A. I'm using UCCNC to control my 0-10v break out board,(through a UC100) to provide an analogue voltage signal to VI to control the spindle output.

All works a treat, spindle powers up, down etc using the S command. However, After setting an 'S' requirement in UCCNC or via G code the resultant spindle speed (indicated on the vfd) is a bit slower.
Is this a VFD 'PD' setting or is it a selection in UCCNC?

I have set 24000rpm-down to 3000rpm in UCCNC and measured the voltage (at break out board) and result at the VFD. I have also measured the voltage required at the BoB when the VFD is running at a set speed.

Can anyone provide a solution of a little advice as to how I can resolve this.
Thank you.

Andy.

My guess is that it's an issue with your breakout boards speed control.
You might try increasing the PWM Minimum duty % and see if it helps.

Gerry, Thank you.

I have adjusted this and am now looking at within 3% from 24000 down to 10000. At 9000 and below the margin increases the slower the spindle gets.
Since this looks like a function of using an analogue voltage supply I am very happy with the outcome.

cheers

Again, I think it's an issue with your breakout board. With my UB1 board, the analog voltage was 100% accurate at all RPM.
