Servo Spindle Positioning for ATC

Postby blackfoxmachining » Fri Sep 10, 2021 4:52 pm

Hello,

I am in the process of building an ATC for my CNC mill.

My machine uses BT30 taper tooling with drive dogs. I am wondering if anyone has had success with setting up their spindle in UCCNC so that when it goes for a tool change the spindle orients itself in a repeatable position. This way the drive dogs on the spindle will always line up with the slots of the taper BT30 tooling.

Has anyone successfuly done this with an induction motor and encoder/ or a servo spindle?

I have seen people successfully accomplish this in LinuxCNC but not sure how or if UCCNC is capable.

Thank you,
Ben

I am using an AXBBE controller board with clearpath servos on each axis.
