Water jet

Postby naijin » Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:44 am

Hi there is it possible to operate a water jet cutter with AXBB-E and UCCNC software?, if so is there any information on how to ? main concern is a lead in and dwell functions to make the water jet usable.
Any information is always greatly appreciated. (is there anyone out there actually using this set up?)
Regards

Hi,

Lead-ins depends on the g-code file. for example SheetCAM can nicely add arc shaped lead ins and lead outs.
I'm not sure what do you mean about "dwell function"?

We have a machine manufacturer customer who is using UCCNC to control their waterjet machines, so it can be used for sure.

With plasma as soon as it arcs it will cut a hole in the material, the water jet will do the same thing only it takes a lot longer to cut through the material before it starts to cut, therefore depending on the material and thickness, the jet of water has to
sit in the same position and and cut the hole through the material in a small circular motions and then cut the lead in to the job at the full depth, I hope that makes sense.

Well, then you need a CAM software which can generate such g-code file. I mean it does not depends on the UCCNC, the UCCNC executes the code you feeding in. :)
