Continuous jog working but not step?

Postby mardon » Sat Jan 09, 2021 9:22 pm

We're experiencing a strange issue with our mill - when using the jog panel, it will move when set to continuous but not when set to any step increment. The software shows the position changing but the mill doesn't move. We haven't made any changes to the software or hardware, and everything else still seems to be functioning normally. Any idea as to what could cause this behavior?

If the position DRO shows the movement then the machine also has to move.
In the UCCNC inside those moves are programmed the same way as the programmed linear interpolations, so if the DRO shows the movement then those signals are output for sure.

Maybe the move distance is so small that you do not even notice on the machine.
Or maybe the acceleration and/or velocity of the axis is set too high and the motor is stalling, loosing steps and then there is no movement, however the software outputs the signals.

Can you post a video of the bug while you are using the program?
I did this and I think it helps. Look here: https://forum.cncdrive.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2624 , 3 posts from the top.

I've seen similar when commanding very small moves with a very low resolution axis.
It might take several incremental inputs before the axis actually responds.
