Solidworks Post for UCCNC does not work

Postby jbknudsen » Tue Dec 15, 2020 6:59 pm

All,
New to this forum. I have been using Solidworks to design and save files to DXF to import into Ventricut, set up the tools and make the paths. Then I post so the UCCNC software can communicate with the Stepcraft machine.
- Stepcraft 600
-Solidworks 2020
-UCCNC controller and 100 in the Stepcraft machine
-mach II/III as supplied from Ventricut.

Ventricut, UCCNC and Stepcraft have all come bundled.

I need to post from Solidworks so I can be more efficient and remove the ventricut process. It is a total pain in the back side.
When posting from Solidworks, neither the mach II/III (with or without G54) works.

All vendors are pointing fingers at the other vendors. I need someone to help with this.
What is required and or the best way to post from solidworks to UCCNC????

Attached are both files Solidworks file does NOT work, Ventricut does.

Thanking all yall in advance,

-Jay

What dosn't work about it?

I would have to look more cause I have barely used it but pay attention to the post processor. I think i used a FANUC type exporting to a .nc file. It will take a few days to check but i will look. Im using uccnc generically.

Frez1001,
Thanks for the reply. Both files load, the ventricut works great. the solidworks seems to be wanting to start from 0,0,0 of the machine. It will not run. Limits are reached as soon as I attempt to run the file.

My perfect goal is: 0,0,0 next to my stock on the jig (not at machine 0,0,0) and to have the program actually run on the machine. The ventricut file works great, would love to be able to duplicate in Solidworks post to UCCNC.

Thank you in advance,
Jay

Thanks for the file, No, it does not work. It comes in as a line.
Unfortunately I am not sure what approach to begin with. Solidworks setup, posting, UCCNC, Stepcraft???????
All suppliers are pointing to other entities, of course. :-/

Thanks again,

-Jay

Solid works is working just fine. The problem is you have no idea where your Machine home position is. That long line is from the machine returning back to the Machine home position. There are 2 lines at the end of the file that contain G28. Remove those lines BUT make sure teh Z is up away from the material. See if that does not look better.

IF you are going to use a Gcode machine you really need to learn how to read the basic Gcode. It is extremely simple it is like talking to a 3 year old. It can really only do 2 things move in a straight line and move in an arc.

Just a thought , (;-) TP

IF you want SolidWorks to fix the post simply tell them to remove any references to G28.
