UCCNC compatible controller with closed loop stepper support

Postby mr_cg » Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:32 pm

Hello,
is there any advice or experience for CNC controller which is supporting closed loop stepper (e.g. JMC iHSS60)?
I am not sure how to find controller which are also supporting closed loop stepper.
Thanks for feedback.

Closed loop steppers close the loop in the drive, and act like any other stepper as far as the control is concerned.

I bought 3 of these from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SB ... UTF8&psc=1

That particular model is not sold any more but StepperOnline has many other models to choose from. These are typical copies that many others are selling but I've had pretty good customer service from this company, and a little better documentation than others. Works beautifully with UCCNC. I have it set up to send a fault signal if it gets out of sync for any reason. I've worked with many stepper motors over several years and these are the quietest I've run across yet.

Chris-

Gerry is correct, closed loop steppers only work with themselves as far as keeping track of positioning, but like I said at least you can set up the fault signal in case it gets out of position, and as long as you have your speeds and accel/decel set up correctly, barring a crash, you can be confident of keeping position accurately.

If you use Delta a2 series L model drives you can use linear encoders and close the loop. this drive has 2 encoder input, one for motor rotary encoder, second for load linear encoder.
I am planing to test it, I think buy first test unit next month.
