UC300ETH motor settings

Postby mark68 » Sat Nov 23, 2019 8:17 am

I have a question about the ideal settings of my stepper drivers and motor setup within UCNC for maximising the UC300ETH and my Nema 34 stepper motors.

I currently have these drivers with the pulse revs set as per the lower picture when using Mach3 lpt with no motion controller, what would you advise the best settings when I install the UC300ETH and the UCBB given the UC300eth controller can output a maximum of 400kHz stepping frequency.

I had sent this question to support on Thursday but still awaiting a reply so maybe the forum can help.

I'd keep the microstepping the same (1/10). You should find that you'll be able to run a bit faster than you could with the parallel port, but you'll need to test to be sure.

DM860A has a max input frequency of 200kHz. So even though the UC300 can do 400, you probably want to set it to 200, or at least test very thoroughly.

Any stepper system I set up as 1/8 micro stepping
And aim for 250 steps/ mm

As per the picture below for the pulse revs/micro stepping?

Steps/mm is NOT an arbitrary value. It depends on the components used in your machine, in combination with the microstep setting.
