wiring hdbb2 (rj45) to driver m542

hello,

i just buy an hdbb2 board and the UC400ETH controller, i'm using it with some m542t drivers.
I buy that to upgrade from chinese board + linuxcnc.
Could you help me with the wiring of the rj45 connector to the driver
On the documentation it saids:

Pinout of RJ45 connectors:
1.) Step signal
2.) Direction signal
3.) LPT port ground
4.) N/C (No internal connection)
5.) Reset signal (Output from breakout board)
6.) Common ERROR line (Bidirectional line)
7.) DC power output+
8.) DC power output-

Im not used to this nomenclature, what is the correspondence with the classic M542 driver indication.
step+/step- , pulse+/pulse- and enable+/enable-, I never read about common error or reset signal.
How do i connect the board to the driver

The Reset and Common error signals are not really useful for steppers, these signals are there to use with servos, to wire back the servo fault signal to the controller and to wire a reset signal to the drives.

You can connect the followings:

RJ45 --- stepper drive

Step signal --- PUL+
Dir signal --- DIR +
LPT port ground --- PUL -
LPT port ground --- DIR -

The above connections are enough to make the axis work.

In addition, optionally you may connect the enable signal of the drive to an Open-drain output of the HDBB2, like:

- 12V which powers the HDBB2 --- (470 to 1k Ohm series resistor may be required, depends on the drive) --- ENA +
- An open-drain output of the HDBB2 --- ENA -

You can wire all the Enable signals in parallel, so the signal can enable/disable all drives together.
On drives mostly the Enable signal is a Disable signal, the labeling is confusing, because most drives enable the drive when the enable signal is not driven and the drive is disabled when the enable signal is driven.
So, most of the drives work without the "enable" signal connected.

Would this be a way to reset the drives? I have em705 drives.

As I said in your other thread, you need to power down the drives to reset them, if they have a fault.
