Interlock for For/Rev spindle

Hi, would anyone know how to go about wiring an interlock for For/rev output relays to vfd?
Apologies in advance if this is confusing.
Here is my thinking:
2 output relays from breakout board
Both are double pole relays
Both separate Normaly open contacts make/break VFD Forward and Reverse inputs
1 - Reverse signal line goes through the Forward relay normally closed contact
2 - Forward signal line goes through the Reverse normally closed contact
This way when the one is running, the other signal line will be open to prevent accidental switching
My issue is, switching from CW to CCW, while CW is running is instant in UCCNC, regardless of M3 and M4 dwell time
Meaning in real life if the spindle is accidentally switched to CCW while running, it will still be slowing down while the polarity is switched for reversal which will damage the VFD.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
