AXBB-E base plate and cover

Hi,
I noticed that AXBB-E has metal cover and base plate painted with non conductive paint, electricaly isolated from each other (and from the ethernet connector shield). Shouldn't they both be grounded to act as electric shield?
Thanks,
Mihael

Hi Michael,

Well, it still acts as a shield, but yes, it would be better shielding if it was on the ground potential, however the device is using low Voltage and 2 powersupplies, so grounding the metal case would be not as good as you think.
Also as it works with low Voltage it does not have PE connection so the device's shield cannot be internally connected to PE ground either.
You could connect the metal enclosure to PE ground yourself if you like, but ofcourse you then have to remove some painting at least around one drill of the baseplate, however it is not nessessary.
We haven't heard about a single noise problem with the AXBB-E as it is built, so it works just fine the way it is.
