Snubber diode on a solenoid?

Postby Greolt » Tue Dec 14, 2021 7:42 am

I know the manual does not show snubber diode on solenoid output but just wanted to check if one was needed.

AXBB-E 3 x 24v solenoids in parallel, driven by one isolated output, O4

Wired as per manual except there are three in parallel.

Hi Greolt,

I always put a diode in parallel with any inductive load I'm controlling. Of course you have to connect it the right way around so it's not causing a short circuit when you apply power to the relay.
