AXBB-E + Encoder

Postby sternman318 » Tue Jan 26, 2021 8:53 pm

Hello,

I am trying to read off a built in encoder in my spindle motor. The motor outputs a 5V logic signal for encoder pulse. My understanding is that the inputs on the AXBB-E can only read 10-30V signals. Am I correct? Is there a work around to read 5V signals? I have the option to read off an index signal that is 24V but it seems PID control is not compatible with index signals. Thanks.

It works down to 5Volts reliably, we just made our recomendation to 12 to 24V, but it can work with 5Volts.
I think we will change the manual down to 5V as it is still inside the recomended range for the optocoupler with it's series resistor.
So, you can use 5Volts without problems.
