Hi there,
As far as I understand for the UC300ETH-5LPT
Port1: Bi-directional or Extended Port used as input, with 4x Output (Pins 1, 14, 16,17), 13x Input (2...13, 15)
Port2: Standard Port; 12x Output (Pins 1...9, 14, 16, 17), 5x Input (Pins 10...13, 15)
Port3: Standard Port; 12x Output (Pins 1...9, 14, 16, 17), 5x Input (Pins 10...13, 15)
Port4: Bi-directional or Extended Port used as input, with 4x Output (Pins 1, 14, 16,17), 13x Input (2...13, 15)
Port5: Bi-directional or Extended Port used as input, with 4x Output (Pins 1, 14, 16,17), 13x Input (2...13, 15)
I was wondering if the UC300ETH-5LPT ports 4 and 5 can be reconfigures as a standard port, and thus use 12 outputs.
I use UCCNC as the controlling software.

in a word.... no... not possible unless CNCdrive change the firmware. cannot see it happening.

Hi,
Yes, you are right about the port pinouts.
And no, you cannot change the direction of any pins, the directions of the I/Os are fixed, they are inputs or outputs in hardware.

And also, you have to change the hardware. The 5LPT board is wired to work as it is: even if you change the pin directions, the gates will not allow you to use it different. The UC300ETH core is 3.3V tolerant, the 5LPT board interfaces the pins to 5V (and 10V for analog).

Do you (CNCDrive) have any dedicated breakout board for ports #4 and #5?
I have mistakenly ordered 2x "UCSB single port breakout board", but those are not compatible with port #4 and #5.
It would be nice to see a "extended port" variant of this board.
My setup consists of a UC300ETH-5LPT
Port #1 and #2: UCBB dual port breakout board
Port #3: HDBB2 single port breakout board
Port #4: not connected
Port #5: not connected

No, we currently don't have a breakout board which is compatible with the input pinout type ports, except the UCBB which has on normal and on input type port, so you can connect 2 of them to the UC300ETH-5LPT. You could connect for example to port 1 and 2 and another one to port 3 and 4.
In this case only port 5 would remain empty, except if you would wire something like a wired pendant to it which does not nessessarily needs isolation, so it could be wired without using a BOB. Then all ports of the UC300ETH-5LPT would be in use. However for most setups even one UCSB or one UCBB is enough.
And we have planned to design a UCSB style breakout board which is compatible with the input type port, but it is not done yet.

There are Bi-directional DB25 breakout boards that already exist. Use one of these boards with an IDC26 to DB25 cable on any of ports 1,4 or 5.

Buy the UD1-U from cncroom.
It's designed for ports #4 & #5.
