Ger, thanks for the extensive explanation. You have set my mind at rest on the slight sound the spindle makes because of the stepper motor. I WILL be careful of fingers, as I have noticed the motion is sometimes strong enough to throw off the probe magnet.
Totally new subject, it may not be appropriate to address your 2017 ScreenSets software on this forum, so I have sent a query to the CNCWoodworker.
