Using UC300 with both Mach3 and UCCNC

Postby spilon » Thu Feb 23, 2017 1:41 pm

I'v spent some time looking on the forum here and didnt find the answer so i'll post it here.

I am in charge of a 4x8 cnc router (diy build, partially based on cncrouterparts.com standard) at a makerspace. Currently the machine runs Mach3 and I have trained about maybe 50 people how to use it. Were currently using the parallel port but i'm running into limitations and would like to upgrade. My question is this: can UC300 (most likely ethernet version) be controlled both with Mach3 and UCCNC? Im thinking people would boot the computer then decide whether they want to run the machine using Mach or UC by clicking the icon and then run the machine.

Works with both UCCNC and Mach3.

I have this board and I can run either software.

WOW Thanks for the instant response!!

Do you need to do a firmware update between each program or is it seamless?

Any gotchas for setup? Iv got two breakout boards.

Yes you can use both the USB and ETH with both software. For Mach3 you need a plugin which you can freely download, for UCCNC you need a license. Get the ETH version if price difference is not an issue, which I guess is the case for you. It is better than the USB, mainly due to better noise immunity but also the pulsing is faster than the USB version. Same number of inputs and outputs and same electrical interface. The ETH requires external +5V supply, the USB can use the 5V provided by the USB, external 5V is an option.

Ok great to hear! Wow there really is alot of activity on here. I'm excited to see where UCCNC goes in the future. I'll post again on here once I order and get it all installed.
