Ethernet CAT Crossover Cable & UC400ETH

OK I am installing the above controller on a Mach4 existing system that resides on a Intel NUC. I have the driver for the Plug in now installed and Mach4 sees it, yes I have it configured in the Network settings in Windows 10 Pro. It says not connected, I am using a standard CAT5 cable so I have ordered a Cross Over cable. Is the cross over cable Aways needed?

In the past I have used a Warp9 ESS and another UC400 but I can't remember if I did or not??

I can't remember the last time I used a cross cable. The PCs and network cards made in the last min. 15 years can all switch to cross mode when needed.

Really? I just got the Crossover cable today from Amazon and the UC400ETH connected right up. My Intel NUC is perhaps 4 years old.

So no Edit and I wanted to add I found my order for the one I did in 2017 and it was with a old Lenovo laptop and it used a cross over also.

You can still use a crossover cable, but you don't need to. Works with either type of cable.

Ger, It would not connect with a standard cable... it does now.

What is the exact type of your Intel NUC? There are many of them. I checked some for spec, but there was no mention about auto MDI-X, so it can or cannot do it.

I changed nothing on the connection side, same IP setup, installed the crossover cable bingo it connects. What would that tell you? The last UC400ETH I used was in 2017 and it was to an older Lenovo laptop, same thing.

I'm happy to read that it solved the problem. It seems like cost saving brings back the old days... I was sure that I'll never have to buy a cross cable again, but as I read you're not the only one.
