AXBB-E and CL57Y Closed Loop Stepper Drives

Postby redwingsfan71 » Tue Apr 19, 2022 4:07 am

Hello all,

I’m trying to sort out the wiring of the ALM circuit of my CL57Y drivers to an AXBB-E controller.
My concern is the voltage… In the driver manual it states connecting the alarm outputs to 5V, but the AXBB-E documentation states that the limit switches, e-stop, and probe all work off of a 24V loop. I’m not sure how to integrate the alarm outputs into the controller.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

You can connect the Input+ of the AXBB-E to 24Volts and connect the Input- to the ALM+ and connect the ALM- to 24V0 ground.
You do not have to add those external pullup resistors to 5Volts which the drive's users manual shows.

. What cncdrive said in post #2.
Also, if you have more than one driver to do. You can daisy chain them all in series connection and that way you only need to use 1 input.

Great! THANK YOU cncdrive and dazp1976 for the quick replies, this has been puzzling me for the past week. Hopefully I’ll have the wiring finished up soon! :D :D :D

I did this and it works almost fine: I had sometime some false triggering of the Input. Probably because of a residual current which always goes through ALM: By the way, in the ALM OFF state, the input LED was always slightly shining...

So I put a 10k resistor between the Input- and the ALM+ and it does the job! Does anyone had the same problem, or a better solution?
Thanks
