MPG encoder

I built a plugin for my control panel using a pokeys57e I/O module. All my buttons, lights, rotary encoders for Speed-Feed-Jog work. Last thing is my hand-wheel encoder, I can't find any examples or documentation on how to interface the encoder to UCCNC. Anyone point me in the right direction or code example would be great.
