How to activate Macro M40 and M41

Postby John Eriksson » Fri Jul 29, 2022 5:37 pm

Hi everybody.

I am rebuilding a milling and drilling mashine to CNC. I have tried to run the Digitize that You can find in TOOLS/digitize menu i UCCNC. I typed in M40 and M41 in the MDI field in UCCNC But noting happens in my mashine. The only thing that happens is that I got a "message" in UCCNC that "Digitizing started" and "digitizing stopped" but my mashine is not moving at all.
I can not find any text files for Macro M40 and M41 in my computer. Is there any YouTube video about the digitizing function in UCCNC, or any written instructions how to make a Digitizing in UCCNC.

I USE UCCNC as below.
SoftWare 1.2113
FirmWare 3.0190
HardWarwe 2.000
API 2.1820
UC 100

I would be very greatful if anyone can guide me to a succsessful digitizing operation.

Best regards to all of You from John Eriksson in Sweden.

M40 start "recording" the digitizing file, and M41 stops it.
In between, whenever you do a G31 probe move, the data is saved to the file.
It's the G31 moves that do the probing. M40 and M41 only save the file with the data.

Hi.

Thank You very much for Your answer that made it possible for mmmme to make some digitizing. I made a couple of probings now after Your instruction. Made some probing with M31 and also used the "PROBE" menu and probed with some of the probing rutines tin that menu. And when opening the file I had named in TOOLS/digitizing I could read some cordinates in all three axes depending of probing type.

But how do I proced if I would like to do some "reverse engineering". I have a sheet carbon fibre with some cutouts and drilled holes and some angeled edges, I would like to "copy/scan" into my CAD program and then use the part I generated from the "copy/scan". And finally make a CAM file and run that file in my CNC mashine.

Best regards to You from John Eriksson in Sweden.

Typically, you run a probing routine that creates what's known as a "point cloud". You then need software that can convert a point cloud into a CAD model, or mesh.
