Custom screens/Touchscreens

Postby Mario Soto » Mon Jun 11, 2018 1:03 am

Hi Folks,
Is it possible to add keyboard key functions to a screen button for touchscreen applications?

Hi Mario, Could you explain a bit what do you need and what do you want to do with it?

On a custom MDI screen (touchscreen ) I would like to eliminate the flyout keyboard and have the keyboard numbers right on the screen along with X /Y/Z.
I know it involves the keyboard source code.

If you need the numeric keys to enter data into fields on UCCNC screen, then enable the "On-screen keyboard" plugin. If you want to enter text also and use the MDI field, then it's another problem.

But, you gave an idea how to improve the on-screen keyboard plugin. :)

Very helpful and I know if I keep trying with help I will get what I need.
This is for a 2 axis machine that only needs number keys and the letters x and y.
Even though the windows keyboard would work, it is not the best. Keys only used (on the screen) would be the better of the two.

Thank you for the help so far.

You can use a macro to open the touch keyboard built into Windows:

Code: Select all
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("osk");

Mr. TP,
This isn't a router, in fact, it's hardly a machine.
It's just an XY back gage for a small punch press.

Here is one router I did for a Foundation we are working on.
It has a flat table and turning capabilities.

So my thoughts for the x/y table is a touchscreen with an MDI input.
All that is needed is an X and Y DRO.
The user would input the X or Y dimension as an MDI instruction
The gage would then move to the location,
Having the letters X Y and 0-9 numbers on the screen would eliminate the annoying windows flyout keyboard.
