dg4s 16035 fault code

Postby paul mcgee » Sun Jan 07, 2018 3:07 pm

The dg4s 16035 opperating my z axis is showing a fault that will not reset, both the red and green lights are flashing in an aternating sequence, can any one tell me what fault this is and how i can reset it, thanks,

If both LEDs flashing alternate means a limit override, you can reset it with pulling the reset line low and then release the reset line.
If both LEDs are flashing together means an overcurrent event, you can't reset this via the reset line, because this is a serious fault and if this happens we strongly recommend to check the motor and the wiring for shorts. This type of fault because it is a serious issue it can't be reset. The power could be toggled to remove this fault condition.

still same problem, when first powered up will flash like the other drives for 5 seconds then goes in to error mode, tried using encoder from one of the other motors in case tolerence to tight in the pid settings or encoder faulty, to no avail, tried pluging motor in as well, still to no avail, is pulling error line low a better way of reset than unpowering the unit, also tried toggling the power, the other axis have no isues does this suggest faulty dg4s unit, thanks,

It can be many things.
It can be:

- It can be an encoder malfunction or differential line driver malfunction if you using a single ended encoder + diff.line driver.
- It can be that the error parameter is too low, so on power up when the drive gets the motor power the drive immediately faults.
- It can be reverse connected encoder to motor, so the drive moves the motor to the wrong direction, so the drive faults as soon as it receives the first step signal or the first encoder count.
- It can be that the diff.line receiver chip in the drive got an overvoltage and damaged and so it is now giving incorrect signals.

I advice to check the PID parameters (max.error parameter especially).
Also check manually with Servoconfig3 if the encoder counts are read by the drive, with powering only the digital part of the drive, no motor power and see if the encoder counter moves up/down as you rotate the encoder manually.

And reseting the drive via the reset line or via toggling the digital power is basicly the same, in both cases the microcontroller does a reset.

have pluged encoder and diff line driver in from a known good axis with and with out its motor, i have powered it up with out motor power so as to try and eliminate motor movment with tight settings, i can not get in to the pid settings as motor driver is not loading dater, i presume because its in fault, i will use this motor driver for one of the other axis that is working corectly, to eliminate encoder, diff line driver, feed from computer, ever thing exept its self and its settings, is there a way i can change or check the pid settings as you suggest when the driver is in fault mode ?, i can gain access to the other drivers with out problem so the servoconfig3 and conection is working fine, 160v motors, im running at 125 volts dc with brake circutes as a saftey precation, i have previously moved this axis during setting up, when returning to this axis after setting the other axis and estop and limit switches with out a problem, it moved then when in to fault, limit switches are not activated, thanks for your help so far,

im afraid i will have to return this dg4s back to cncdrive under warrenty as its only 2 weeks old, it will not reset trying all the methods mentioned, it will not load data to servoconig3, so carnt alter or check the pid settings as you have recomended, if the fault is down to me then i will pay for the repair or replacment, thanks,

Drives do not communicate via the USB port when they are in any type of faults.
The only way to change the PID parameters (to factory default) is if you do a firmware update, then the factory PID settings are uploaded to the drive.
If the drive is in fault you can still do a firmware update following the sequence described in point 3.6.1.1: http://cncdrive.com/downloads/Servoconf ... al_eng.pdf

done firm ware update as advised, firm ware update was sucessfull first time, plugged servo drive into a good proven motor and encoder, but still the same fault code, both leds falshing alternatly, thanks for all the advise, but is it time for me to be buying a new one or sending it back for you to to take a look, i bought it on the 27/11,2017, the other drives the mini computer, encoders, diff line, brakes all work fine, very happy, thanks,
