Laser Engraving plugin.

I am a long time Mach3 user and I keep getting bogged down with various issues whilst transitioning to Mach4.
Now it’s a few years since Robertspark suggested I try UCCNC and it looks like now is the time. Software installation was a breeze as was setting communications with my UC400ETH. I haven’t yet completed all the IO settings because I just had to try the Engraving plugin first and I am really impressed with the ease of use and the smoothness of the axis motion produced.

Still a lot to learn but I thought I would share some pictures of my results. These are just on cardboard (the outer packaging that my cans of beer come in). Interesting that the image produced on the white side of the packaging could almost be mistaken as a photograph.

Hi,

Here I was using a 40Watt CO2 laser and the images were all 100mm width.

Very nice!

laserengrave is my bread and butter. I've had the occasional glitch here and there but I couldn't imagine using anything but UCCNC now. About to take some downtime and expand the bed on my 80W CO2 to 600x900mm. Due for new mirrors too. Most of my work is in acrylic:

Holy crap those are nice - both the 'photos' and the acrylic sign.

I was mentally planning a small CNC lathe, but I'm thinking a laser engraver would be pretty awesome.

Have any of you guys tried internal 3d engraving in acrylic . I always thought that those were the coolest things.
