UC400ETH vanished from network

I have a UC400ETH that I purchased a few years ago. It has worked flawlessly until today. It's configured to have a static IP of 192.168.1.40 on a 192.168.1.x network. Now it does not appear to be connecting to the network. Symptoms:
  • The power LED blinks steadily with no interruptions (perhaps 1111 code for valid IP?). This is true even at initial power-up.
  • There is one steady green LED on the Ethernet port. The other LED on the Ethernet port is dark - no activity.
  • The network switch shows a brief pulse of the 'link' and '100mbs' LEDs for the UC400ETH port every 3 or 4 seconds, but no activity.
  • The UCCNC software does not see the controller on the network.
  • On an isolated network, a scan of the network shows no device of any sort other than the router and the PC.
I have tried a new cable, and plugged it into a different port on the network switch. The PC with the UCCNC software is on the same switch and it has perfect network connectivity.
I also tried connecting it to a 10.10.10.x network in case it reverted to factory defaults. No joy.

Is it dead? Is there anything else I can try?

Try to run the UCx00 utility tool and check the orange LED in the RJ45 connector.
When you scan the device, that LED should blink some.
If it does not blink at all and if you are sure that your network card in your computer is working properly then the ethernet magnetics or the ethernet chip damaged on the UC400ETH board.

The orange LED never blinks. I reset to factory defaults, still nothing. I assume Ethernet chip is dead - ordering new controller.
