mpg count and direction question

is there an mpg count register available?
so i can check mpg position against time? "changes"

if not what is the best way of determining this?
i want to try to implement a "trycut function" (see feature requests)
basically making both g0 and g1,g2 g3 feedrate follow the speed the the mpg dial is turned at while a button is on.
resume to normal programmed feedrate when button is off.

You can use the aux. encoders.

but it wont work with the wireless pendants. (as is)
i can rig it up to test my code hard wired.
